The short book, “One Word that will change your life” provides an interesting twist on New Year resolutions, suggesting you determine just 1 word you will focus on and live for the entire year. This book describes 3 steps:
(1) Prepare your heart by unplugging all distractions and disengaging from your hectic pace to look inside yourself (asking yourself, “What do I need? What is preventing me from having it? What do I need to let go of in order to grow?);
(2) Discover your word by silently asking for it, and then just listening and watching as it is revealed to you in some manner (via book, song, conversation, movie, observation, etc.) sometime after you ask (possibly days later), and then;
(3) Live your word by applying it to every area of your life (posting reminders to yourself), so it inspires you to live with purpose and passion every day. Living it in all situations will be the hardest part, but will also foster personal growth.
Note: Your word might come to you in the form of a character trait, a discipline, a person, a spiritual focus, an attribute, or a value. Examples include love, joy, patience, presence, kindness, rest, prayer, health, flexible, devotion, intimacy, discipline, smile, commitment, gratitude, bold, positive, strong, green, inspire, finish, integrity, perseverance, now, and fun. If you do this, it’s important to change the word every year.
Whatever you do, I hope YOU make 2016 your best year ever!
